The lively town of Portree enjoys a superb natural setting, with its colourful harbour being surrounded by cliffs and picturesque hills. You can take a walk down to the waterfront to admire the row of famous pastel-coloured houses, which overlook small fishing boats and pleasure craft in the pretty bay. Alternatively, head uphill to the octagonal Apothecary Tower, for an equally impressive view out over the harbour.
If you fancy a little piece of retail therapy for some souvenirs, there are loads of little craft shops and quaint boutiques in Portree.
